A thankful--and philosophical--post

veg+ is a full-service restaurant, positioned between Peninsula and Hudson, Ohio, to our East and West, and between Akron and Cleveland to our North and South. Browns-Cavs-Ohio State-Lake Erie Monsters lovers. Salt-of-the-earth, hard-working folks. Meat-and-potatoes Ohio.

Opening a vegetarian- and vegan-friendly, full-service restaurant that also serves chicken and fish is a leap of faith at any juncture. I joke that this project appeals to my need to do everything the hard way. Which, in this business, translates to: If you do it, do it right--baking our own bread; making virtually everything from scratch; adopting an if-we-can-we-do approach to altering menu items to accommodate food sensitivities; having a recyclable bin serviced weekly; taking all vegetable scraps that aren't used for vegetable stock and giving it to my chickens (what they don't touch goes to the compost pile); purchasing fresh Ohio chicken breasts from a local food supplier; making as many items vegan or to have options; working to add more and more gluten-free options to our menus; and employing old-fashioned, human, hospitable service that welcomes everyone.


We have met so many special friends who support us as much as they can, by eating here and telling others about us.



Thanks to all--we're itching to be done with winter, getting new menu items together, tested, and launched, and doing more in the community.
